Kick back and relax with a glass of wine, fresh fruit and chocolate fondue and a luxurious pedicure! Our pedicure take 75-90 minutes and we guarantee the stress of Septmeber will be a vague memory when you leave!
Our products come from Naturally You, a local company using natural and organic ingredients with a light tangerine fragrance that will leave you feeling refreshed! We take hygiene extremely important and all of our tools are sterilized in a medical grade autoclave and individually wrapped for your protection. You will also be given a full bottle of China Glaze nail lacquer at the end of your pedicure ensuring that the item has only been used on yourself.
We have teamed up with Velata to give you a delicious chocolate fondue! The chocolate we offer comes in dark, milk or caramel and has been made in Belgium. Yum Yum! We also are able to take orders if you are interested in purchasing your own Velata fondue for personal use.
We have chosen Cupcake Vinyards as a wine to represent our spa. There grages come from some of the finest grapes in California and is available in both a Red Velvet blend and a white Chardonnay. The Red Velvet shows a heady nose of chocolate, blackberries, red fruits and a smooth mocha finish and goes beautifully with our dark chocolate fondue. The Chardonnay offers decadent flavors of buttercream, citrus and vanilla with a hint of oak and spice which goes particularly well with the milk chocolate fondue and fruit.
Come in and enjoy the most delicious pedicure you may ever have!
We now offer day, evening and Saturday appointments!
Yesterday was a day filled with excitement and of course, butterflies! It was a wonderful first day! I am feeling more and more confident that this was a good transition for my life. It is always so difficult to leave where you are entirely comfterble and venture out in a new direction! That is where I am learning the importance of faith and trust in something outside of yourself and also within yourself. Through this transition I have had the incredible opportunity to practice yoga at Yoga Elements, here in Okotoks. I believe that this practice has really shown me what trust is and that by doing so, you are able to release control over the outcome of any situation. What a beautiful thing to be shown! Today is a new day… Day #2, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to participate fully it!
Official Opening Day is only 2 days away and I am so excited… And nervous! I didn’t realize how much work this was going to be to set up and it isn’t the spa itself that took the work! It’s all the things behind the scenes that has taken so much time! I sure hope I’m not forgetting anything! I have had really great feedback, so I am feeling confident that I will be busy!
What is all the craze with Lash extensions?
They are time savingly stunning, and can look like your own natural lashes! What ARE lash extensions??
Lash extensions can be used on almost anyone who is wanting thicker and longer eyelashes! They are applied one extension at a time, each one applied to one of your own natural lashes. The procedure takes anywhere from 1.5-2.5 hours to complete depending on how many natural eyelashes you have! Your natural lashes have about a 100 day lifespan and these lash extensions will begin to shed with your own natural lashes. As they shed, you will notice places with no extensions showing, only your natural lashes and that is when you come in for a touchup. This is usually after about 3 weeks and takes anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour to preform. You can continue to touch up your lash extensions for about 6 months before I recommend taking a little break for a month, allow me to remove them and then start over with a new full set of lashes.
I have been doing lash extensions for about 2.5 years and was using the brand name 3D Lash. I have recently switched brands and have started using Babe lash extensions! Both brands are very comparable however there are some differences! I have found that Babe has a thinner and less clumpy adhesive then 3D Lash. Both hold very well but I notice that the Babe brand of adhesive doesn’t cause your eyes to water as much as the 3D Lash adhesive when they are being applied. I also really like that the Babe brand has what is called a C curl extension which makes the lashes curly and will work very well on people who have straight lashes. I have actually completely switched to these and use them on everyone because who doesn’t want curly lashes? The other really awesome thing about Babe extensions is that you can get colored ones (red, blue, purple etc.)! I don’t have them right now, but I would totally be willing to try them out, especially for a special event, like a Christmas Party or something!
Now for the nitty gritty of caring for your new lash extensions!
The biggest killer of lash extensions is HEAT! This means you have to be really careful when you are doing things like blow drying your hair, opening the oven door or dishwasher, and even really hot showers. When your lashes are exposed to this kind of heat the adhesive will soften and your lashes will clump together, shortening their lifespan. I always advise using your blowdryer on a cool setting or covering your lashes with your hand for that first blast of heat when opening up the oven or dishwasher. Avoid hot tubs, saunas and steam baths if you can. Don’t wear mascara with lash extensions (you won’t need it anyways), but you can wear eyeshadow and eyeliner! Just be sure you use an oil free eye makeup remover or facial cleanser to remove your makeup. The oil in these products will soften the adhesive and cause the extensions to fall out. I also advise people to avoid sleeping on their side or stomach when wearing lash extensions. The more careful you are with your extensions the longer they will last! This also means NO picking or pulling at them either! You don’t want to break your own lashes off! Be gentle!
I do not recommend lash extensions for people who are eye rubbers (due to allergies, hay fever etc.), have very sensitive eyes, have VERY curly eyelashes (as it will be very difficult to keep the eyelashes separated when using the adhesive), or people who use medicated eyedrops (drops can coat the eyelashes and cause clumping).
So I have got a very interesting night for everyone to come too! We are doing a 1940’s themed Christmas Party! I will be giving free manicures and there will be lots of vendors, door prizes and even makeovers and buddy photos! You are really not going to want to miss this incredible night of 40’s fun!
Unfortunately it seems we are into the fall season and timing is everything! Now is the perfect time to start growing out your hair for your first waxing or body sugaring appointment! Everyone is different, but it usually takes about 3 weeks of growth before a waxing or sugaring appointment can be done providing the best results. Our hair has 4 different growth patterns and the key to permanent hair removal is to get as much of your hair on the same growth pattern so that it all grows in at the same time. This usually takes about 3-4 weeks to get the hair approxamitly 1/4 inch in length and ready to be removed.
After your first appointment, it is quite common to not be silky smooth because of the different growths patterns. After the second time you should be starting to feel silky smooth for at least a couple weeks. The awesome thing about waxing or sugaring is when your hair begins to grow in, it is always very soft and fine. You may even notice some areas that don’t grow back at all (especially with sugaring), even after the first time! You will want to make sure that you book an appointment every 4 weeks for the best results! By the summer, you will be thankful that you don’t have to pick up the razor every day! So, start growing out that hair!
A gentle reminder, November is 15% off all services! Not only great timing to start your hair removal process but cheap too! 🙂
Have you heard of body sugaring? If not, I am not that surprised! It is amazing how many people don’t know about this form of hair removal especially because it is the oldest form of hair removal dating back to Egyptian times. Pharaohs demanded that their harems bodies were kept completely hairless so the women would boil sugar, water and lemon juice into a thick and stick paste. When it is applied against the hair growth and simply flicked away with the hair growth, the hair is removed efficiently and without to much irritation to the body! The results are astounding! I personally have found my hair grow back rate is about three times less then with waxing! You have to be pretty consistent at first,in having sugaring done every 4 weeks in order to achieve the best results but it is totally worth it! I have found that over time you can lengthen the time in between sugaring sometimes up to 8 weeks between having to be sugared!
Why is it so effective?
Body sugaring is more effective then waxing because of the application and the product it’s self! Unlike waxing, I do not use a strip but a gloved hand with a “ball” of sugar. When I apply the sugar (which has the consistency of honey), against the hair growth, the product seeps down in and around the hair follicle papilla (where the hair grows out of), and removes the hair from the root. This damages the papilla and prevents the hair from growing back properly. Some areas will not grow back at all, even after the first time you sugar! Another benefit can be less ingrown hairs! Because the hair is removed the same way it grows there is less chance of hair breakage, thus causing less ingrown hairs to occur! I find it way less invasive and because of it’s slow application, I have been told it is almost more like a spa treatment then classic hair removal!
I also have noticed the results on dark course hair (example, bikini or Brazilian) is AWESOME!
The truth is, I am kind of technologically illiterate. I leave most of this kind of thing to my husband who works in this field of computer confusion. I find it so much faster to let him figure out all this stuff as I would much rather go and play with beautiful things. I have been an esthetician for about 5 years and a make up artist for about 6 years. I was given the opportunity to work at an amazing spa in Okotoks, Merle Norman Cosmetics, where I was given incredible opportunity to grow as a person and as an esthetician. Turns out, I was given the manager position, which I held for about 3 years. I have decided that at this time, the best thing for me is to have a time of transition, thus opening my own spa in my home where I can be closer to my daughter, Mina, who is 2 years old. I will be beginning a slow start in the field of esthetics, providing waxing, body sugaring, tinting, and eyelash extensions to start. I am hoping in the new year, to transform my basement into a full spa, offering full esthetic services.
Right now, we are in Reno mode trying to get everything ready before November 1, when I will be officially opening. My style is Modern Vintage Glam with soft hughes and contrasting dark accents. I find beauty in so many things, and I want this to be a true reflection of my self! I will be posting pics of the spa room and some of the work I do as well, (leaving out Brazilian waxing of course) lol!
